Call for Papers – Please submit by January 31st
This year theme offers a practical aspect with regard to facilitation and also allows for a broader approach too: what sorts of things are legitimate to putting into questions for children? Is it okay to have them question reality, for example? Or authority? There are also procedural questions such as: where should the question come from? From the facilitator or the children? etc. There are epistemological dimensions to this theme, as well as ethical dimensions, especially in regard to our responsibility for children. Questioning is an art which we can develop as practitioners, and that is central to philosophy, and philosophy with children

The Socio-Political Dimensions of Philosophy for Children
January 3rd-11th, San Crisobal, Las Casa, Chiapas, Mexico.
In “Thinking in Education” Lipman says that in order to engage in an education for an inquiry driven society, we need a social structure defined by democracy and a character structure defined by reasonableness. But not any democracy.  He talks about a deliberative democracy. This socio-political dimension of the work in communities of inquiry is one of the topics we will explore in January For more information about the conference theme and participation, click here
