First Call for Papers: NAACI conference June 3 to 6, 2010 – Queretaro, Mexico
Education for Community: re-envisioning education in a post-modern world (theory, practice, assessment) The conference will be held at The Museum of the National Institute of Anthropology and History in Queretaro. Submission process: Please note on your submission whether your paper focuses on theory, practice, or assessment. All submissions will be vetted by two people. Everyone who submits by February 1, and whose paper is chosen, will be accommodated Thereafter, it will be on a first come first serve basis until there are 30 participants or until March 1, which ever comes first. March 1 is the final deadline of submission. There will be simultaneous English-Spanish translation, so papers can be submitted in either language. Your paper should be approximately 10 pages in length, capable of being read or presented within the 20-minute time slot. Conference format: As has been the tradition for NAACI conference, we will work toward establishing a community of inquiry. To this end, there will be no concurrent sessions. All attendees will participate in all sessions. Each session will be about an hour and a half in length with three paper presentations restricted to about 60 minutes, leaving 30 minutes for discussion. To facilitate the discussion, all accepted papers will be available electronically prior to the conference for all attendees. If your paper is accepted, you will be expected to attend the entire conference to share and support your fellow participants.
Activities: The Museum will sponsor a tour and we hope to announce other social and cultural activities as we get closer to the event. We are still in the early planning stages so check the website often for updates as we move forward. Queretaro is a beautiful place and you may wish to extend your stay to take in the sights.
How to get to Queretaro: The closest International airport is Mexico City. From there you can take a bus to Queretaro.
Conference Cost and Accomodation: Conference registration fee is 2,000 pesos (equivalent to approx. 150 USD). Causal breakfast will be included at the conference facility. Accommodation will be posted at a later time but rooms are expected to run around 1200 pesos or $100 USD per day.
