The biennial conference of the Victorian Association for Philosophy in Schools (VAPS) entitled “Cultivating Curiosity: Philosophy and STEM” will be held September 14 and 15, 2018, at Siteworks in Brunswick, Australia. The conference theme will appeal to all philosophy, whether at the primary, secondary or tertiary levels.
Keynote speakers will include Dr. Tim Sprod, the Chair of the Association for Philosophy in Tasmanian Schools, whose talk is entitled “Why engage in philosophical inquiry in STEM subjects?” and Krystal De Napoli from Monash University, whose talk will focus on “Indigenous Astronomy and Ethics.” The conference will also feature presentations, workshops and sessions exploring critical issues in STEM, including the Ethics Olympiad, naturalism and philosophical thinking, CPI pedagogy, and more!
