Designing a P4wC curriculum focused on intercultural dialogue
Over the past three years, Philosophy for/with Children centers in Italy, Spain, Austria and Israel have been collaborating on a project that uses philosophical inquiry to address the problem of children at risk of exclusion.
PEACE, or Philosophical Enquiry Advancing Cosmopolitan Engagement, has been designing, testing and validating a new P4C curriculum focused on cosmopolitan engagement and intercultural dialogue with the goal of impacting teachers’ educational practices. The project seeks to give educators specialized professional development and new teaching strategies and materials to improve children’s reasoning and relational skills. By making these new pedagogical strategies and educational resources available to other contexts and countries, PEACE’s scope will be widened and cosmopolitan awareness will be promoted.
The ultimate aim of PEACE is to disseminate to the widest possible section of society the idea that it is possible to contribute to the development of a cosmopolitan orientation and engagement amongst future citizens through dedicated educational tools and practices. The curriculum is free to download! To learn more, please visit the PEACE website.
